Rodrigo A. Gallardo is a researcher and designer working at the intersection of architecture, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, fabrication, and media. His work explores computational design, digital environments, and the evolving relationship between the built world and emerging technologies.
Rodrigo is currently a John Haymaker Fellow and a graduate student at MIT in the Computation program within the Department of Architecture. His research focuses on augmented reality-assisted fabrication, AI-driven spatial analysis, and the application of machine learning in skatepark design. Prior to MIT, he completed a Bachelor of Architecture at the University of Houston, where he conducted an Honors Undergraduate Thesis on the convergence of virtual and physical space, human movement, and surveillance dynamics.
Professionally, Rodrigo has worked with Protolab Architects, a parametric design firm in Houston, and has contributed to research at CougAR Lab at the University of Houston Sugar Land. His writing on architecture, urbanism, and design has been published in Architect's Newspaper, Texas Architect, and Rice Design Alliance.
Beyond architecture, Rodrigo engages in filmmaking, curation, and critical discourse, examining how computational tools shape cultural and physical landscapes.
